Key Responsibilities

  • Site InvestigationsConduct thorough investigations of construction sites to assess soil and rock properties, groundwater conditions, and other geotechnical factors.
  • Design and AnalysisDesign foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.
  • Testing and ReportingPerform field and laboratory tests on soil and rock samples, and prepare detailed reports and drawings based on findings.
  • CollaborationWork closely with other engineering disciplines to integrate geotechnical considerations into overall project designs.
  • Risk AssessmentEvaluate risks related to slopes, foundations, and other geotechnical issues, providing recommendations to mitigate potential hazards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Educational BackgroundBachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field is typically required. Master’s degree may be preferred for advanced positions.
  • Technical ProficiencyStrong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and geotechnical software tools.
  • Problem-Solving SkillsAbility to analyze complex data and develop practical solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Communication SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with team members and clients.
