About the Role
Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take the lead on building services projects? We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's growing team in Liverpool. This role offers the opportunity to mentor others, influence project direction, and contribute to high-quality engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design elements of building services projects from concept through to delivery.
- Produce and review detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and reports.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, sustainability, and structural engineers.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Attend client, design, and site meetings, representing the engineering team with professionalism and clarity.
- Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and project objectives.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered or working toward Chartership (CEng or equivalent) highly desirable.
- Extensive experience within building services consultancy.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and public health.
- Proficiency with relevant design tools and software (e.g., IES, Hevacomp, Revit MEP beneficial).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
