Key Responsibilities

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will:

  • Work on a diverse range of projects across multiple sectors

  • Contribute to all stages of project delivery

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to achieve shared project goals

  • Produce technical drawings and specifications

  • Carry out design calculations using manual methods and software tools

  • Monitor your own design work to ensure quality, programme compliance, and budget alignment

  • Liaise with other design disciplines to understand client requirements and select appropriate plant, equipment, and solutions

  • Apply strong technical knowledge and coordinate services designs

  • Represent the company at project meetings

  • Understand and support low- and zero-carbon (LZC) strategies

  • Manage site inspections for compliance with design documentation

  • Engage in continuous professional development and keep up to date with new technologies and industry developments

  • Demonstrate awareness of other building services disciplines

  • Work proactively, both independently and as part of the wider team


Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering, or HNC/HND equivalent

  • Minimum 1 year of building services design experience post-qualification

  • Software experience: Microsoft Office, Relux/DIALux, Amtech, Revit

  • Knowledge of British and European Standards, building regulations, etc.

  • Understanding of HTMs (desirable but not essential)

  • Professional membership (e.g., CIBSE, IET) or working towards it

  • Understanding of renewable technologies and their integration into designs

  • Working knowledge of BREEAM

  • Awareness of mechanical systems to support multidisciplinary discussions
