About the Role

Are you passionate about mechanical building services and ready to make a real impact on the built environment? I'm looking for Mechanical Design Engineers who thrive in a consultancy environment where quality engineering meets practical project delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and support mechanical building services designs — think HVAC, public health systems, LTHW/CHW and more — across sectors like commercial, education, healthcare and residential.

  • Produce detailed calculations, specs and coordinated drawings using tools such as Hevacomp, AutoCAD, IES and Revit.

  • Get involved early: help with cost planning, scoping work for tenders and fixed-fee projects.

  • Support project delivery beyond design — including commissioning support and advising clients through handover.

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, project managers and commercial staff.

  • Join client meetings, site visits and contribute to a director-led approach that values long-term relationships.

  • Mentor and support junior engineers while actively engaging in CPD to push your career forward.

Who We’re Looking For
You’re likely to have experience in mechanical building services design and are seeking a broader, more rounded consultancy role where your voice matters.

Essentials

  • Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.

  • Real-world experience delivering mechanical building services design on UK projects.

  • Strong working knowledge of relevant regulations (Part L, CIBSE guides, British Standards).

  • Experience with design software like Hevacomp, AutoCAD — and ideally Revit or IES.

  • Clear communicator with the confidence to work alongside clients, architects and contractors.

  • A proactive mindset with an eye for buildability, performance and client outcomes.

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of energy performance and low-carbon technologies.

  • Progress toward CEng/Chartership with CIBSE or IMechE.

Why This Role?

  • Be part of a close-knit, technically strong consultancy team where ideas flow freely.

  • Enjoy exposure to the full project lifecycle — not just design.

  • Regular collaboration with directors and clients — no silos, just teamwork.

  • Strong career development, structured CPD support and genuine progression potential.

  • Work on projects that matter — from early concept through to completion and operation.

  • Competitive salary and benefits tailored to experience.

If you’re looking for a role that combines hands-on technical design with real influence on project outcomes in a supportive consultancy environment — this is one worth exploring.
