Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

My client is a well-established engineering consultancy who is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its building services team. The role would suit an engineer who is confident working independently while operating as part of a collaborative team.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering mechanical building services design across a range of projects. The company is looking for someone who can be trusted with projects, manage their workload, and drive designs forward with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities include:

• Mechanical design of building services systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and domestic water services
• Producing calculations, specifications, reports, and technical drawings
• Managing and delivering projects or project packages from concept through to completion
• Liaising with clients, architects, and other design team members
• Attending design meetings and site visits where required
• Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and best practice
• Coordinating with electrical and other disciplines to ensure integrated design delivery

Requirements

• Experience in mechanical building services design
• Ability to run projects or work packages independently
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and building services design principles
• Experience with industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp, or similar
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
