About the Role

Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take the lead on building services projects? We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's growing team in Liverpool. This role offers the opportunity to mentor others, influence project direction, and contribute to high-quality engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design elements of building services projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Produce and review detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and reports.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, sustainability, and structural engineers.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Attend client, design, and site meetings, representing the engineering team with professionalism and clarity.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements, industry standards, and project objectives.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

  1. Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  2. Chartered or working toward Chartership (CEng or equivalent) highly desirable.
  3. Extensive experience within building services consultancy.
  4. Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and public health.
  5. Proficiency with relevant design tools and software (e.g., IES, Hevacomp, Revit MEP beneficial).
  6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  7. Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
