Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead and deliver high-quality electrical designs across a range of projects. This role is suited to a proactive, technically strong engineer who is comfortable working autonomously while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

You will take ownership of electrical design delivery from concept through to completion, providing technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design on multiple projects across various stages (concept to detailed design)
• Produce and review electrical calculations, reports, drawings, and technical specifications
• Ensure designs comply with current UK regulations, standards, and best practice
• Coordinate with other disciplines, clients, contractors, and external stakeholders
• Attend design meetings (virtual and occasional in-person)
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to intermediate and junior engineers
• Review and check work produced by others to maintain quality and consistency
• Support project delivery to agreed timescales and budgets
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Significant experience in electrical design engineering (senior or intermediate level)
• Strong knowledge of UK electrical regulations and standards (e.g. BS 7671)
• Experience producing calculations, drawings, and specifications using relevant software
• Ability to manage workload independently in a remote working environment
• Excellent communication and coordination skills

Desirable:

• Experience in building services Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status
• Experience mentoring or leading engineers
• Familiarity with common industry software tools (e.g. Amtech, Dialux, Relux, AutoCAD, Revit)

Working Arrangement

Predominantly remote or Hybrid Flexible working hours supported Occasional travel for site visits or key meetings may be required
