We’re working with a well-established, growing building services consultancy in Nottingham that delivers a wide range of projects across the public sector. With a strong pipeline of work spanning new builds, refurbishments and low-carbon schemes, they are now looking to strengthen their Mechanical team.
The Role
You’ll play a key role in the delivery of mechanical design projects from early feasibility through to completion. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you’ll take ownership of designs and contribute to successful project outcomes across a varied portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing mechanical building services designs in line with client briefs
- Producing calculations, detailed drawings and technical specifications
- Working from first principles across systems such as HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water services and above-ground drainage
- Supporting feasibility studies, site surveys and site inspections
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants
- Ensuring designs meet relevant regulations, including British Standards and Building Regulations
- Contributing to project delivery within agreed timescales and budgets
- Supporting commissioning, handover and overall project lifecycle delivery
About You
You’ll ideally bring:
- Experience in mechanical design within the built environment
- A strong understanding of mechanical building services systems and design principles
- The ability to produce designs from concept through to detailed stage
- Experience working with tools such as Revit (Stabicad experience is advantageous but not essential)
- Awareness of relevant regulations, standards and industry best practice
- HNC (or equivalent) in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Experience from either consultancy or contractor backgrounds will be considered.
The Environment
One of the key attractions of this role is the working environment. The team is well-established, collaborative and known for strong staff retention. You’ll be joining a business that values quality engineering, teamwork and long-term development over high-pressure delivery models.
Alongside this, you’ll benefit from:
- Hybrid working and genuine flexi-time
- A modern, well-designed office space
- A supportive and approachable leadership team
- The opportunity to work across a varied and meaningful project portfolio
