Our client is looking for a skilled and ambitious Fire Engineer to join its expanding multidisciplinary consultancy team in London, Glasgow, Manchester or Portsmouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Fire Safety Engineer seeking career progression within a respected consultancy delivering innovative fire engineering solutions across the UK and internationally. The company has a strong reputation in Fire Engineering, Building Services Engineering and Project Management, working across commercial, residential, infrastructure and complex building sectors.
The successful candidate will gain exposure to high-profile projects, advanced fire modelling, technical fire strategy development and multidisciplinary collaboration while progressing toward chartership and senior-level responsibility.
About the Role
As a Fire Engineer, you will support the delivery of fire engineering projects from concept design through to completion. Working alongside Senior, Principal and Associate Fire Engineers, you will contribute to technical analysis, fire strategies, compliance reviews and project delivery across a diverse project portfolio.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in UK Fire Safety Engineering who are looking to further develop their expertise in performance-based fire engineering design, fire modelling and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of fire engineering projects across multiple sectors Prepare fire strategy reports, technical documentation and marked-up drawings Assist with external wall assessments and fire safety analysis Undertake fire modelling and evacuation analysis using FDS, PyroSim and Pathfinder Conduct site inspections and support construction-stage fire engineering activities Apply UK fire safety legislation and guidance including: Approved Document B BS 9999 BS 9991 BS 7974 Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams Support quality assurance procedures and project administration Deliver high-quality technical support and contribute to repeat business opportunities
Requirements
To be considered for this Fire Engineer role, applicants should have:
A degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline A postgraduate qualification in Fire Engineering Minimum 2 years’ experience within Fire Safety Engineering, ideally in the UK consultancy market Experience supporting fire strategy development and technical fire assessments Progress toward Associate Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills A collaborative and proactive approach to project delivery
Desirable Skills & Experience
The following experience would be advantageous:
UK fire strategy development experience Construction-stage support and site inspections Experience using FDS, PyroSim and Pathfinder software Knowledge of Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Outlook Desire to progress toward Chartership and advanced technical specialisms
