General Works Manager

This regional main contractor works throughout Thames Valley operating from their Berkshire based office. They a regional contractor they cover all building types of private and publicly funded building contracts, traditional or design and build. Their clients include private clients, public companies, local authorities, heritage organisations, hospitals, churches, schools and universities. Turning over in excess of £50m they have a great reputation of looking after their staff and further developing their careers.
We are looking for a General Manager to run a number of projects to £3m each. As General Works Manager you will be responsible for managing a number of site teams to include, Project and Site Managers alongside direct labour supply and subcontractors. Your strengths as a General Works Manager will include the ability to multi task, with projects at different stage from pre con, through to final completions. You will be impressive in front of clients and will be able to sell the business and your experience to develop repeat business and win new work.
Additional responsibilities in this role will include being accountable for up to 5 live projects, whilst working on a number of pre contract tenders. You will have a relaxed demeanor and you will adopt a show not tell attitude. It is important for this role to live within commutable distance of the office in Berkshire, and will realise as a General Works Manager, that there is travel involved in the role.
Qualifications & Experience
You will be able to demonstrate a stable career background, alongside the experience of running multiple projects to £3m as a Contracts Manager. You will hold a CSCS Contracts Manager card, SMSTS and First Aid certificate. Ideally the right applicant will also hold a construction related qualification.
